If every beer menu could be that simple! Sure we would attract more consumers and deliver much more satisfaction.

Most beer descriptions are very texty, sometime poetic but overall miss the point: explain what it looks and tastes like. The mismatch between what is being sold and what consumers do experience can be dramatic and very frustrating!

If you’ve been to the Oktoberfest you know that except if you have a reservation it’s first in first served. You must have a table to order beers. So it’s simple, you get a table and you stay for the day 😂. Doors are opening at 9am.
I must say it’s easy to arrive nice and fresh early on day 1. Day 2 is a very different effort 😂.

Märzen are also bigger but let’s say that the color would make it more clear it’s different.

‘Tis the season again!

For Americans it goes without saying that “Pumpkin” means “Pumpkin Spices” made of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg… it’s everywhere from Starbucks Late to shower gels and candles…

For European this typical spice is very much unknown (and so is the pumpkin pie). The expectation is really to taste like a pumpkin (which really is not a signature of its own) and that can be quite a disappointment.

Some pumpkin beers are actually produced with proper pumpkin concentrate. It can’t really be the fresh pumpkin because these beers are brewed now in June or July to hit the market in August…way before any of them are ripe 😅.

My favorite so far has been @tworoadsbrewing rum barrel aged pumpkin beer (Roadsmary Baby).

“Masskrugstemmen” is a Bavarian sport; the name translates loosely into the lifting of a liter mug of beer. The “Masskrug”, a 1-liter Stein, is to be held with one arm, completely stretched out and parallel to the floor – the goal is simple: to hold the Stein up as long as possible. It’s a balance between the right technique and strength. The full 1-liter “Mass” weighs about 5 lbs.!
Beer=Sport.
The only frustration is that the better you are the more likely your beer will be warm 😅.

Oktoberfest beer are not all the same. Some are amber and some are blond. For consumers this can be very confusing.
In fact the OG Oktoberfest beer was a Märzen style of beer. Richer, a bit bolder, a bit darker-amber. It just so happened that since the early days the beer available for Oktoberfest in Munich was a Märzen style.
In the 70’ though Paulaner introduced a blond version for the beer to be served at the Oktoberfest which all other brewers in Munich embraced.
So nowadays we have the blond style of Oktoberfest which is a classic in Germany while in US (in particular) most Oktoberfest beers would be amber and more true to Märzen.

In 1970, Lufthanza was the first company to offer draught beer during flights. They did it again in 2018 during the ~Oktoberfest. KLM also collaborated with Heineken in 2016 to set up a Draft beer trolley!
When you hardly have space to sit they still manage to roll a keg on board 😂.
Well you know there’s a pressure problem and obvious risk, so the design and carbonation is a bit different. Lufthansa used casks which are not pressurized and KLM used the Blade system I guess using air to push beer out of a pouch.
Still a challenge and I don’t want to be the one spilling beer on the passengers!
